Every one of us comes across website designs that are just plain boring. The content seems congested, the design is too plain and images that make the site look like it’s never been updated for centuries. In this case what do we all do? Yes you’ve guessed it! We press the Back Button on our browsers without waiting even a bit. This is the last thing you would want happening to your website if you were the owner of an ecommerce website etc.

Following are the reasons why I think you should redesign your website:

•    You’re Site Is Not User Friendly

What may have seemed splendid 15 years may seem offensive to your visitors now. Many websites that were designed a long time ago have not been updated since then are pretty hard to navigate for an ordinary user. Sites like these need to be rebuilt, redesigned from scratch maybe, they have to be made user friendly because in the end it’s the user who’s going to earn you money.

•    A Marketing Opportunity You Cannot Pass!

If you redesign your website you get a chance to contact your old visitors or customers and tell them about what’s new and what they should expect from the website now.

•    Maybe Your Website Is Just Too Tedious To Navigate!

I don’t know about you but a lot of times when I’m Googling I find a website but it’s not exactly what I’m looking for. Now it would take me ages to find the content I’m looking for on the website when it shouldn’t have taken more than a few seconds. Things like this scare off the customers!

•    Make Google Love You

Everybody knows that Google loves fresh content. If your redesign your website and make it more user friendly and SEO optimized you are sure to improve your rankings and crush your competition. You just need to keep the Meta tags from your old design and add some more stuff into it, spice it up a bit, make it stand out; and you’ll please Google.

•    You Have Traffic But No Sales

It’s really depressing to put so much effort into making a website and then trying to rank it but then getting no sales. When something like this happens it’s usually related to the content on your website. Sometimes you’re not preselling enough and sometimes you’re just overdoing it! You have to keep a balance between the both. Again, a redesign with new content will help with that.

•    Your Website Has Technical Faults In It

I’m sure than every one of you has seen the 404 Page (Page not found). Things like these are hated by search engines and users alike. If your website has broken links or other technical problems in it you need to get them fixed as soon as possible. This will help the visitors navigate and look more natural to the search engines thereby helping you rank.

•    Your Site Could Be Incompatible With Some Browsers

Some sites don’t work well with internet explorer and some give bugs with Firefox. No matter what the issue you should get it resolved as soon as you can to get the maximum amount of visitors and thus the maximum amount of sales as well.

•    Your Site Doesn’t Have Proper Call To Action

This is a very common problem. People visit your site but then they get lost. By that I mean they don’t know what to do. Your site should be easy to navigate and should tell the user exactly what to do and where to go from here.

•    Is Your Content Irrelevant?

Yes that can happen too. After some time you begin to feel your content is not relevant enough for the keyword that you’re promoting. For example you’re targeting the keyword “How to Get Rid of Acne” but you content contains stuff like “What is acne? what are the causes of acne etc.”

A general rule of thumb that I use is that you should always remain to the point and think of yourself as the visitor to your site. Now analyse what you see on your website and ask yourself
“Is this what I would be looking for if I were searching for that keyword?”
If you answer “No” then you need to change the content of your website and make it more Keyword Related.
