Pick what your car is doing and you get the likely cause, how urgent it is and roughly what it starts at — before you speak to anybody or hand over the keys.
Most likely
Pad material is gone and the backing plate is on the rotor.
Once it grinds, the pad is finished and you are cutting into the rotor face. Left another fortnight it usually turns a pad-and-rotor job into a caliper job as well, because the piston has extended far enough to pass its seal.

Scan, road test and a photo report showing what we found and what it takes to fix.
Pads, rotors and fluid. Worn parts kept for you to see if you want them.
Struts, bushes, ball joints and a four-wheel alignment after.
Thermostats, pumps, radiators and a pressure test before signing off.
Timing, gaskets and induction on most domestic and import makes.
Manufacturer intervals and parts, recorded so your warranty stands.
The reason people distrust garages is that the evidence stays under the car. Every visit here produces a photo report first, sorted into what needs doing, what will need doing, and what is fine — and you approve it line by line.
Declining a line has no consequence. It does not get raised again on collection.
Every visit starts with the same 42-point look, whatever you booked for.
Findings are shot on a phone, not described. You see the same thing the technician saw.
Report by text or email with three columns: needs doing, will need doing, and fine for now.
Approve or decline each one. Nothing outside what you approved gets touched.
Where a job genuinely needs a dealer-only tool we will say so before booking rather than after the car is apart.

No. A manufacturer cannot require dealer servicing to keep a factory warranty valid, provided the correct parts and intervals are used. We service to the manufacturer schedule and give you documentation that records it.
Because diagnosis is the work. A scan tool reads a code in thirty seconds; finding what caused it takes a technician, a road test and often a scope. The fee is credited against the repair if you go ahead here.
Yes, and we will fit them. The labour warranty stands on its own in that case, because we cannot warrant a part we did not source or inspect.
Most of them, and we will tell you honestly when a job needs a dealer tool we do not have rather than take the car apart and find out.
Diagnostics are usually same day. Anything needing parts depends on the supplier and you get a time when the report goes out, not after.
You get a time and a diagnostic slot back, not a “someone will call you”.
