Accessibility

Accessibility.

A studio that builds websites for a living should be able to account for how its own one behaves. This page says what we do, what we aim for on client work, and where the gaps are.

What we target

We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, at level AA. That is the standard UK public sector bodies are held to, and it is a reasonable bar for commercial work as well.

How this site is built

Semantic HTML with a single main heading per page and a sensible heading order. Keyboard navigation throughout, with a visible focus style rather than one suppressed for aesthetics. Colour contrast checked against AA thresholds for body text.

Motion respects the reduced-motion setting in your operating system: if you have asked for less animation, the marquee and transitions stop. Text reflows to 320px without horizontal scrolling, and nothing depends on colour alone to make sense.

Known limitations

The work tiles use large decorative gradient artwork. It carries no information and is hidden from assistive technology rather than given a meaningless description.

This site has been assessed by its authors and has not been through an independent audit. We would rather say so than imply a certification we do not hold.

On client projects

Accessibility is part of how we build rather than an item to be dropped when a budget tightens. Where a client needs a formal audit or a published accessibility statement of their own, we will say so at proposal stage and scope it in.
